Bamboo nursery developed at Y-Farm, Faridabad

Bamboo plants of 12 species were brought from Dehradun and a nursery with seed beds was developed at Y-Farm, Faridabad.

On 20–21 June 2022 our team transported bamboo plants from Dehradun to Y-Farm, Faridabad, arranged and counted them species-wise and planted Bambusa multiplex and Bambusa nutans.

Six nursery beds (2.5 ft × 10 ft × 1 ft, soil : sand : vermicompost 3:2:1) were prepared and sown with treated seeds of Bambusa bambos, Dendrocalamus strictus, Babool, Moringa, Peepal and Eucalyptus. A survey of the farm boundary and the Yamuna river bank was also done to find more land suitable for plantation.

Species at the nursery: Bambusa tulda, B. balcooa, B. wamin, B. vulgaris (yellow and green), B. nutans, Dendrocalamus sikkimensis, B. bambos, Oxytenanthera parviflora, D. strictus, B. multiplex and B. polymorpha.
